Have you ever felt the healing affect of nature? It is certainly true that nature provides a natural balance in her truest form away from the hustle and bustle of it all. It is this very reflection in stillness that is often missing in our daily lives.
Too Much Noise
In our regular schedules there is so much “noise,” such as the constant to-do list running in our heads, that we can simply miss what’s in plain view. We certainly do not take the time for reflection. Of course, this noise is in one’s head, not just the literal sounds of the city. This distraction can actually mute everything around you and affect your balance.
Just Stop and Listen
On one of my recent walks in the woods, I was reminded of the need to be still when a wise old soul whispered, “stop and listen to the harmonic sounds of the forest.” Fascinated by the thought, it stopped me in my tracks. After standing for some time just listening, observing and being, I felt a simple sense of comfort and ease that comes with reflection. There was no need for reaction; I was able to just be. Simply quieting my mind by being still in this environment filled my heart beyond explanation. It was like make-over for the inside.
What are You missing With All the Noise?
I thought, perhaps, this message needed to be shared beyond the walk in the woods and applied to everyday life. Remembering the message from the woods, I’m reminded to be still, listen and reflect.
How often do you react before really listening? Fair question to say the least. Although you cannot spend your days in the peacefulness of the forest, you can stop thinking about impeding responses and start listening with your heart. It is too easy to miss the fine points if the “noise” is all you hear.
