More than just a jumping off point to ski resorts, the perfect 3-day weekend in Denver is a destination of its own. The city has several areas of interest and each offers something unique. And one of the best things is its proximity to the mountains and vast eastern prairie land.
RiNo District
The River North Arts District (RiNo) is the ‘place where art is made’. With color splashed warehouses and repurposed buildings throughout, this district is vibrant and alive. And there’s a lot of food choices that range from bar food to fine dining. Just walking down the sidewalk and looking at the murals is a treat. RiNo attracts the open minded, young at heart crowd.
Larimer Square
As the oldest commercial block in the city, Larimer Square attracts locals and visitors. Currently, the area in undergoing massive structural renovations. However, several of the restaurants and shops in the area are open for foot traffic. This includes Rioja the place with the best grilled Wagyu tri-tip and lamb porterhouse.
Red Rock Amphitheater
Not Denver, but just a short drive from the city is the Red Rock Amphitheater. This musical venue dates back to 1910, and today, it’s a favorite spot for concerts, yoga and everything in-between. But be prepared! Climbing the stairs to the top is no joke. It is, however, worth it because there’s a lovely museum at the top. Who knew!
There’s so much to see that a weekend in Denver is hardly enough. On the outskirts of the county, there’s a wild animal sanctuary that truly deserves a visit as well. So get out there and enjoy the sites!
