Feeling the lack of encouragement or affirmation can often lead to self-doubt. So, it is important to arm yourself with daily positive affirmations to strengthen your mindset.
The Challenge
Many times we, especially women, are looking to others for this emotional support in the form of compliments. The importance of letting go and not concerning yourself with what others thought about you is a very important step. Does it really matter if others like your new hair color or your slimmer appearance? Truth? No, it doesn’t matter. What matters is how you feel about yourself. But as social beings we seem naturally attracted to complimentary conversations.
The difference is being lost in the need for the approval of others; this can lead to dissatisfaction. This sounds like such as simple truth, but it can be a challenge. Looking for a pat-on-the-back for professional contributions, can lead to the feeling of invisibility. This feeds dissatisfaction and can ultimately create self-sabotage.
Personal Note
Numerous times in my life, I’ve been tangled in my own web of deception; it felt like everyone was conspiring to ignore me. Really? Get over yourself. Why did I need everyone to approve my actions? Luckily, I knew I was capable of being happy, but somewhere along the line I lost my silly humor and double-dimpled smile. Being determined to find my way back, I acknowledged this simple truth and set my intentions to find “her.” But, this is never as easy as it seems. There have been several triggers and set-backs along the way.
Opening Your Heart
As with many things in one’s path, opening the heart-center frees you to love yourself unconditionally. Even with this intent, I still work to reprogram my thought process. Every day and several times throughout the day I repeat a personal affirmation. This continues to be a helpful process that lightens the weight of self-doubt.
This is a favorite affirmation.
Affirmation:
I don’t have to prove myself to anyone anymore
I am free
to be me and enjoy it!
Today, my affirmations come from me, and unsolicited from others. My heart is open, and others feel it. I am free to be ME.
